Frijol con puerco

The ambassador of Yucatecan gastronomy

Ricardo AcevedoJuly 29, 20261 min read

You can hardly savor it the way you do at home! In the warmth of family and friends.

Monday's frijol con puerco, with its radish and cilantro, lime and habanero chile. As a Yucatecan, it takes me back to my childhood, to family meals, conversations, the love of siblings you share everything with, memories of friends who used to come over, the warmth of my parents around a shared table. Frijol con puerco is the first dish from home that a Yucatecan craves when, after traveling, they return to their land — the land we love so dearly and to which we are so deeply rooted. This dish brings me back to every stage of my life, like a cherished companion to the many memories I carry in my heart. To share a meal is to share a great deal of love!
