I’m from Tabi, Sotuta—a beekeeper at heart. I live with the challenges and obstacles society imposes on you for being a woman. When I first got into beekeeping, I was always belittled for taking on this work, which has traditionally been a man’s trade.
At one point, someone even fumigated my hives with pesticides, and on another occasion, my little bees were stolen along with their boxes. With great pain in my heart, I decided to pick myself up and continue pursuing my dream. God always gives us the strength to carry on.
These days, honey is overvalued, and we beekeepers suffer greatly when it comes to selling our product because of the low price imposed on it. That’s why I had the idea of creating other products and new honey-based versions. I also make soaps, creams, candies, and recently started making honey-based chamoy. All of them are original products from my Dulce Gratitud. Through my trade and my business, I can support my household and help my brother get ahead.
My Dulce Gratitud is a business born of hope, faith, and the determination never to give up. It began during very difficult times that changed my life forever, but God gave us back our sweet gratitude toward Him.
